Las Delicias is a coffee farm located in the Lipululu area of Jinotega, Nicaragua, sitting at an elevation of around 1,250 to 1,500 meters above sea level. Covering approximately 13 hectares, it was acquired in 2017 by Eleane Mierisch, becoming the first farm she personally managed within the Mierisch family’s multi-generational coffee enterprise. The Mierisch family has been growing coffee since the early 1900s, and today they oversee several farms across Nicaragua, each known for careful cultivation, innovative processing, and a strong commitment to quality. Las Delicias, though smaller in size compared to some of the other estates, quickly gained recognition for its unique microclimate and potential for producing exceptional coffees.
The farm grows a range of distinguished varietals, including Java (or Javanica), Yellow Pacamara, Gesha, and Red Bourbon. These are processed through diverse methods such as fully washed, natural, and experimental fermentations, all designed to bring out each varietal’s best attributes. Las Delicias has earned recognition in competitions like the Cup of Excellence, establishing itself as one of Nicaragua’s most respected specialty coffee farms. Beyond coffee quality, the Mierisch family emphasizes sustainability and community well-being, offering workers and their families access to housing, meals, healthcare, education, and childcare. Following Eleane’s passing in 2023, the farm continues to be operated by her family, carrying forward her vision of excellence, innovation, and respect for both people and land.
